Age Divisions:
4-6 year old:

In these divisions, the Age, Belt Level and Weight will determine brackets.

Each division must have at least 3 competitors. We will try to keep the competitors as closely matched as possible.
The layout of these matches is as follows:

-They will compete in a guard passing game

– There will be 2 rounds per match, rounds will be 1 minute

– One person will start on top in guard, the other on their back with a closed guard

– The goal of the top position is to open and pass the guard to either side control, mount, or back mount. These positions must be held for a count of three.

– If this is achieved, they will reset back to the start position and continue until the round is over

– The goal of the bottom position is to get to their feet, or at the very least, prevent their guard from being passed.
-The competitor who starts on the bottom in the guard game has a chance to score points also if they reverse to the top. They will receive a point for their efforts.

-Note that you just have to get to your feet and step back to gain a point. Whereas, you will need to reverse and hold the top for three seconds to gain a point.

-After either of these scenarios, they will be reset in the same position they started in until the end of the round.

– One point will be given for every time a competitor’s respective goal is achieved.(ie: top position controlled, or bottom position to their feet or reversed)

– At the end of round one, the competitors will switch from top to bottom and play the game again from the opposite position as they had in round one.
