Is the kids 4-6 guard game? 7-8 and from the knees? Also is submission only for the kids, or points.
Hello John,
4-6 is the guard game. 7 and up is sub only with varying types of submissions allowed per age group. Those can be found on the divisions page.
7 and up will also start from the feet. But, there is no penalty for sitting to guard if they are uncomfortable with stand up and take downs.
Is registration still open? As well as if you’re under 18 do you need a parent or guardian with you at the tournament to sign anything?
Hello Chase,
Registration is still open and will be until February 21st at 8pm.
Go here to register: http://www.SubmissionAceChampionship.com/registration
You will need either a parent or guardian (coach would suffice) to sign the waiver form at the event, yes.
Look forward to seeing you there February 27th!
Is there a master division for age 30-40?
Hello Wayne,
The only Master’s division we have is for 40+. Under 40 will join the adult pool.
Are weigh ins with Gi on or not?
Hello Wayne,
All weigh ins will be without the gi on.

Hey do you need to have your IBJJF card at the event or during registrations
Hello Neil,
No, you don’t. We aren’t affiliated with the IBJJF. Just bring you gear, be on weight and be ready for some good rolls.
Hi is the submission ace winter classic tournament only with Gi?
Or is it No-Gi?
I compete in No-Gi that is why I’m wondering.
Hello Usman,
Yes, this event is a Gi only event.
Where is the tourney
Hello Matt,
The event is held at the Abbey Centre in Blackfalds, Alberta.
Street Address:
4500 Womacks Road
What are the weight categories in over 40 Masters
Every Division is broken up by closest weight into 5 person groups starting from the 5 lightest people and moving up.
Are there weight limits/divisions for ages 13-17? If so, what are they?
Hello Marc,
Weights in any division will determine who also fills the maximum 5 person bracket. Divisions are made by closest weight.
Particularly in the kids and teens divisions, we focus on keeping weight/belt/and age as close and fair as we possibly can. In the week leading up to the event on the 17th, there will be 2 preliminary bracket lists posted. I encourage all competitors and their guardians to check them and give feedback that aids us in this goal of fairness.
Thank you, also, are there any specific clothing requirements for under the gi? (Tee, rashguard, no shirt, spats, etc.)
